Welcome to the Home of Tone family, Tate FX!

Welcome to the Home of Tone family, Tate FX!

You've might have seen the Tate FX name on my website in the 'friends' page for some time, and that's for good reason. Stuart is a great guy, passionate about guitar gear, super geeky about pedals and supportive in the community. It's an absolute honour to now say you can find some of the Tate FX pedal range here available for sale too!
How to Guide - Fitting a 50's Style Pre-Wired Harness to an SG!

How to Guide - Fitting a 50's Style Pre-Wired Harness to an SG!

On-wards with my series of 'How to guides' showing the step-by-step process of installing one of my pre-wired guitar harnesses, this time for the iconic Gibson design, the SG. (Although this particular model is a Greco lawsuit era model, but let's not get into that too much eh!).
These models are great to work on in the sense that all of the electronics are accessible from a single control cavity, and you can even remove the pickups without taking off the strings too. So although the working space can feel a little cramped, the access to the control cavity is great and should make this a nice and simple 'how to' guide today.

Andy Martin demos the Ground Control Audio Amaterasu V2 and Tsukuyomi Boosts

Andy Martin is an icon of the modern guitar world, and one of the main figures in video demos. Go to any gear page and it won't be long before you'll see a 'here's my clean tone' meme. A great dude and awesome to see my beloved Ground Control Audio pedals featured on his YouTube channel this week! Seb sent him the Amaterasu V2 and Tsukuyomi Boost pedals, and here's his demo of both!
FXEXPO 2020 is coming to Stourbridge!

FXEXPO 2020 is coming to Stourbridge!

Our home town of Stourbridge is getting some guitar show action this September! Zander Circuitry have organised a effects pedal specific guitar show in our hometown of Stourbridge, at The Bonded Warehouse (where my Coffee & Guitars event was last year) and will feature a great selection of pedal companies exhibiting! I'll be there (seeing as it's within walking distance to my home!) sharing my pedal based brands like Ground Control Audio, Yellowcake, Evidence Audio, Loaded For Bear Audio and there may well be some surprises from my brands too so hold tight for that!
The Guitar Show 2020 Charity Raffle Guitar final reveal!

The Guitar Show 2020 Charity Raffle Guitar final reveal!

Well, you've waiting patiently enough. Seeing as it's sounding, playing and looking great, it's time to reveal what it all looks like and the work that Jason at The Guitar Show, Rob Williams Guitars, Oil City Pickups, Grainger Guitars, Crimson Guitars, Williams Guitars have all put into this instrument which I'm sure will help raise a great amount for the Prostate Cancer charity chosen for the raffle. I do believe that the lucky winner will also receive an amp courtesy of Laney Amplification too, pretty cool indeed! For more information on all of this, do please check out The Guitar Show's social media  and get yourself to the show, enter the raffle and perhaps wind up walking away after winning this cool build! Thanks to Jason for letting me be a small part of it, been good fun seeing it come together first hand and really looking forward to it being taken home by the lucky winner.
Anyway, onto the final photos! Enjoy
The Guitar Show 2020 Charity Raffle Guitar Part II

The Guitar Show 2020 Charity Raffle Guitar Part II

Follow on from part 1, it was time to get the freshly assembled guitar set-up! Willams Guitars had made the neck, and had installed a neatly fitted bone nut blank in there ready for slotting. So it was there where I started the set-up work.
The Guitar Show 2020 Charity Raffle Guitar

The Guitar Show 2020 Charity Raffle Guitar

There's often prizes and competitions offered at Guitar Shows, but not many that I can recall to this high standard I must say. For this year's Guitar Show, the organiser had the idea of bringing together a group of UK based guitar makers and brands to build an instrument that would be raffled at the show and go home with a lucky visitor. The specs of the guitar have been chosen by the followers of the Guitar Show's facebook page, so body shape, to colour, to pickup specs and it has resulted in a very high spec guitar indeed! For the final stage of the build, the guitar has made it's way to my office so I thought I'd put together a few blog posts about the build as well as a reminder of what this is all for. Below is the post from Jason (Guitar Show organiser) about what charity the raffle ticket sales will be donated too. Well worth a read, and makes it more special for me to be a part of this great project -
Dipswitch Demos - Jackson's new McNelly Nostalgia & Cornucopia pickups!

Dipswitch Demos - Jackson's new McNelly Nostalgia & Cornucopia pickups!

Jackson from Dipswitch demos was kind enough to consider a set of McNelly Pickups for his lovely Ernie Ball Cutlass HSS guitar. I had done some wiring work to this guitar for him, and after a bit of chat he decided to go for a Nostalgia in the neck and middle positions, and a Cornucopia humbucker in the bridge position for the guitar which was very kind of him considering the wealth of choice in pickups out there!
How to Guide - Fitting a 4-way Pre-Wired Harness to a Telecaster!

How to Guide - Fitting a 4-way Pre-Wired Harness to a Telecaster!

A very long overdue 'how to guide' post here today looking at the step by step process of installing one of our Signature Series 4 way Telecaster wiring harnesses along with a fresh set of pickups! The 4 way harness takes your traditional 3 pickup positions of neck only, neck and bridge parallel and bridge only, but adds a 4th position where the neck and bridge are in series providing a beefier tone. It requires a little more work than a standard 3 way, but the results are great!
