Home of Tone Blog
Home of Tone is now proudly supporting the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust
As some of you may already know, I have run modest charity fundraisers since the early inception of the Home of Tone. Either by selling limited edition T-Shirts with the profits being donated to a chosen charity, or even gig events and social gatherings which have been really enjoyable moments and have helped raise a brilliant amount of money for charity. I've championed Mind Charity, a cause close to my heart for a number of years now, and will continue to do so where possible. But I wanted to also contribute to another charity going forward and since my last event back in November 2019, it has been on my mind about which charity that will be....
Ground Control Audio Amaterasu & Tsukuyomi are due back in stock
After a little delay, I've managed to secure my next batch of Ground Control Audio Amaterasu bright pre-amps & Tsukuyomi Mid Boosts! Although the majority of these have already been secured via pre-order reservations, I do have some spare that are available. These have become incredibly popular since the great Andy Martin demos and of course, Amaterasu player, Yvette Young too heavily influencing the use of this great pedal. So if you're looking to grab one, this is the time!
Both back in stock and on the website ready to order!
Many thanks, and apologies for this delay in obtaining more of these.

Welcoming Descendant Vibrato to the Home of Tone family!
I’ve admired Chris’ development of his Descendant Vibrato unit since his instagram account documenting the design first came about. The ideas behind his design spoke to me as something that would be a great, relevant addition to the offset guitar world. So I’m very proud to say that I’ve recently confirmed my first stock order and am now a UK dealer for the Descendant Vibrato! I’ll be accepting pre-orders soon, but I’m holding off a little bit until the assembly date is a little closer so I can better estimate the delivery for customers. Stock will be carried in the UK, and left handed offset owners will hopefully be pleased to hear I will also be carrying stock of the left handed units too.
Young Miles' new Squier Mini Jazzmaster! | My review, and subsequent pop punk mod!
Rewind to January and the Winter NAMM show, which seems like a lifetime ago now! One of the coolest product announcements I saw was from Squier, introducing another classic shape to their 'mini' series, with my beloved Jazzmaster! I was incredibly keen to see these hit UK shores as our young son loves to strum the guitars in the house. Needless to say though, he finds it incredibly difficult to sit with the full sized counterparts, so I have been on the lookout for a 'mini' 3/4 or 1/2 sized guitar for him to have a go with. Inspiring a young person to want to play an instrument is such an important thing to me, and I must say, Miles has known many guitar-savvy words from a very early age, 'Jazzmaster' being one of them, so this little mini version was the perfect fit!
Dipswitch Demos | Our Jennings Voyager Deluxe!
The brilliant Jackson at Dipswitch Demos kindly spent some time with our Jennings Voyager Deluxe and put together this demo video! Running through a range of sounds available from the McNelly Pickups set too. Really appreciate Jackson's work on this!
Documenting my first 'real' pedalboard build Part 1!
I recently ordered a pedalboard from my good friend Marcus (Marcus D'luxe pedalboards) and decided to document the build process on my YouTube channel, just for fun really!
Part 1 is now up to watch!

Welcome to the Home of Tone family, Tate FX!
You've might have seen the Tate FX name on my website in the 'friends' page for some time, and that's for good reason. Stuart is a great guy, passionate about guitar gear, super geeky about pedals and supportive in the community. It's an absolute honour to now say you can find some of the Tate FX pedal range here available for sale too!
How to Guide - Fitting a 50's Style Pre-Wired Harness to an SG!
On-wards with my series of 'How to guides' showing the step-by-step process of installing one of my pre-wired guitar harnesses, this time for the iconic Gibson design, the SG. (Although this particular model is a Greco lawsuit era model, but let's not get into that too much eh!).
These models are great to work on in the sense that all of the electronics are accessible from a single control cavity, and you can even remove the pickups without taking off the strings too. So although the working space can feel a little cramped, the access to the control cavity is great and should make this a nice and simple 'how to' guide today.

Andy Martin demos the Ground Control Audio Amaterasu V2 and Tsukuyomi Boosts
Andy Martin is an icon of the modern guitar world, and one of the main figures in video demos. Go to any gear page and it won't be long before you'll see a 'here's my clean tone' meme. A great dude and awesome to see my beloved Ground Control Audio pedals featured on his YouTube channel this week! Seb sent him the Amaterasu V2 and Tsukuyomi Boost pedals, and here's his demo of both!
FXEXPO 2020 is coming to Stourbridge!
Our home town of Stourbridge is getting some guitar show action this September! Zander Circuitry have organised a effects pedal specific guitar show in our hometown of Stourbridge, at The Bonded Warehouse (where my Coffee & Guitars event was last year) and will feature a great selection of pedal companies exhibiting! I'll be there (seeing as it's within walking distance to my home!) sharing my pedal based brands like Ground Control Audio, Yellowcake, Evidence Audio, Loaded For Bear Audio and there may well be some surprises from my brands too so hold tight for that!
