About
Stocking ThorpyFX pedals has honestly been a dream of mine, one of those brands I have really admired and hoped I could stock one day, and I'm so proud to say that has finally happened!
ThorpyFX is a family run business located in Brackley, England. The team is made up of Adrian and Georgia steering the boat. They've since been joined by a small team of designers (including Dan Coggins formerly of Lovetone fame), two full time in house pedal builders, a few PCB builders in house and remote, plus the lovely ladies who load enclosures, polish and shine ready to ship, and parcel up to head to your front door.
The Fallout Cloud (limited Pink edition)
Just to start things off, this pedal is from a limited edition run ThorpyFX made with a really cool textured white enclosure with pink control knobs. I only have x1 available from this ltd run.
Adrian Thorpe was asked to create the FALLOUT CLOUD by a number of vintage pedal enthusiasts he knew. They were after a Triangle era style pedal that would work with a variety of guitars (Humbucker and singlecoil's including P90's) and amps and be bombproof so it could be gigged. The brief was simple, make a triangle era Fuzz that could beat their original 1971 Triangle fuzz pedals when placed head to head.
The brief was simple, the task was not, however after many prototypes and a bit of lateral thinking the FALLOUT CLOUD was born. This pedal has the ability to beat any four transistor fuzz you have heard (including the best vintage units). By adjusting the perfectly voiced EQ you can achieve fuzz tones from silky smooth through to doom laden whilst maintain the ability to cut through.
Check out the video in the video section if you'd like to hear it in action.
Internally the pedal is immaculately built using premium 1% metalfilm resistors, Wima and Panasonic capacitors, and Neutrik jacks. These are the crème de la crème of the electronics world and when coupled with a robust gold plated PCB and dust sealed potentiometers the recipe is as good as it can possibly be.
