About Seymour Duncan
Seymour Duncan have long cemented themselves as the leading aftermarket pickup brand in the world, offering a staggering selection of models, and doing so affordably too. Throughout their range they have created iconic models that stand the test of time, popular for a variety of guitars and music styles. It's a real pleasure to be a Main Dealer for the Seymour Duncan brand!
About the Invader Model
The Invader has cemented itself as an iconic high-output humbucker design. Thanks to it's fearsome tone, unique look and also it's associated players who have used the pickup over the years. It is perhaps most commonly associated with the Tom Delonge signature Stratocaster model, as well as the Synyster Gates signature guitars too. It is very well versed in heavy guitar tones, distortion based high gain and will help deliver those sounds with ease. Played clean, you'll notice it just sitting on that edge of break up, as it pushes the front of the amp too. I personally own an Invader, thanks to my younger years loving the Blink 182 pop-punk era and it always brings the smiles when playing it. Here at the Home of Tone you'll find the most popular bridge position version in stock, in 6 string spec across the selection of main colours. But, if you require the neck position, or other string spec versions please do just reach out! As a SD Main Dealer I can certainly help source and supply any model from the SD range.
Looking at ordering this for a TD Strat project? Then check out my popular and long offered, true to spec pre-wired volume pot kits too. I am also happy to pre-solder the Invader to these TD volume pot kits too as a drop-in solution.
What SD say:
"Installing an Invader changes your guitar’s DNA. No matter how dangerous your stock pickup claims to sound, the Invader will transform your guitar into the mean, heavy-sounding beast you always knew it could be. The Invader’s power comes from the combination of specially overwound coils, three large ceramic magnets, and its striking, oversized metal oxide pole pieces. These unique pole pieces expand the overall magnetic field and widen the frequency spectrum, which is why every note played through an Invader sounds so rich and massive. The ceramic magnets add depth and clarity while the large hex caps deliver smooth string-to-string balance.
The Invader delivers the thickest, deepest low-end response of any passive pickup we make. Chords sound almost subsonic with lower tunings, but balance nicely with the crunchy treble, keeping everything well defined. While the Invader bridge looks mean and vicious, because it is mean and vicious, the Invader neck humbucker is surprisingly warm and smooth, despite its intimidating looks, and yields a thick crunch and moaning sustain.
Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the Invader features three large ceramic bar magnets, oversized metal oxide poles, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance. The Invader is available in 6, 7, and 8-String passive and active mount options."
Nerdy specs
Magnet - Ceramic
Type - Passive
Wire type - 4 conductor shielded
DCR bridge - 16.6k
Short leg mounting
Dimensions - Click here for sizing spec sheet
Recommended wiring - The Invader humbucker is generally seen paired with 500k pots, and 0.047uF (SD's recommendation) or 0.022uF tone capacitor values depending on personal preference or application. You'll perhaps most commonly see the invader paired with a single volume control, thanks to it's affiliation with the Tom Delonge signature Stratocaster model for example. But 500k volume, and/or 500k tone control pot values suit it well.
What's included?
Inside the box you'll find the neck and bridge pickups, along with your mounting screws and springs for each, and a wiring guide which covers traditional as well as alternative wiring styles.

Installation
These pickups are a direct replacement in terms of sizing and spec for a traditional uncovered, short leg humbucker pickup. They are 4 conductor wired as standard which means you could wire it with some alternative switching options comfortably such as coil split, phase reversal or series/parallel, making them very versatile. If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.
Do you have them in stock?
You betcha'. These are in stock, here at James' Home of Tone available for collection and ordering.
