About the La Brea
I've longed stocked a variety of Tele pickup styles, and it feels great to add the awesome Brad Paisley signature set to this range. An Tele player really flying the flag in recent years to Telecaster playing and tone.
What SD say:
"In 2017, after a long search for the perfect guitar, Brad Paisley acquired an original 1968 Telecaster. The guitar played beautifully but had unfortunately been refinished in black acrylic paint. So, Brad brought the guitar to veteran luthier and paisley paper expert, Bill Crook, to have the black paint stripped away to have a classic ’68 paisley pattern applied instead. After removing some of the thick black paint, Bill stumbled on a surprise that would shock them both: Fender’s original pink paisley finish from 1968! Brad dubbed the guitar La Brea, because the black paint hiding the perfectly intact, all-original pink paisley paper reminded him of the tar pits in Southern California. At this point, Brad loved almost everything about La Brea, but there was still something that wasn’t quite right – the pickups. Naturally, Brad called his buddy Seymour W. Duncan, and together they created the perfect, vintage accurate matched pickups – the Brad Paisley Signature La Brea Telecaster Set.
The bridge model features alnico IV rod magnets, vintage-correct cloth push-back wire, vintage output of 7.44k, and classic grey forbon flatwork, giving you the wonderful open quality that you expect from a vintage pickup, but with the focused midrange that only an alnico IV magnet can provide. The neck pickup uses alnico II rod magnets alongside an output of 7.55k, and the same period-correct wire and flatwork to provide a smooth, thick neck tone. Together, these pickups deliver the snap and twang that Brad is known for, with a round top end and full but tight lows. Seymour wound what Brad calls “the perfect set” for his beloved ’68 La Brea Telecaster, and now you can get it too. Nerdy specs
Magnet - Alinico 2 and Alnico 4
Type - Passive
Wire type - 2 conductor
DCR neck - 7.55k
DCR bridge - 7.44k
Polarity - Neck pickup is north up magnet direction, clockwise coil direction. Bridge pickup is south up magnet direction, anti-clockwise coil direction.
Recommended wiring - The Green Magic model humbucker is generally seen paired with 500k pots, and 0.047uF (per SD's recommendation) or 0.022uF tone capacitor values depending on personal preference or application. From a personal standpoint, I do feel the 0.022uF is the better suited spec for Les Pauls for example. Cap specs are personal choice though and if fitting into an existing LP, I suspect you'll find it already has 0.022uF in there ready to go.

Inside the box you'll find the neck and bridge pickups, along with your mounting screws and rubber adjusters for each, and a wiring guide which covers traditional wiring install.

These pickups are a direct replacement in terms of sizing and spec for a traditional Tele single coils. They are 2 conductor wired as standard. If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.

Local pickup - If you are local and wish to collect any items or order in advance for collection on a specific day, then you can still place an order online and select local pickup at the checkout. Or drop me a message and I'll reserve the items ready for your visit.
For online ordering and dispatch - In stock, non made to order items are processed and dispatched 4 days a week; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.
For orders that are placed on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday I have an order cut off time of 14:00GMT (with Royal Mail shipping services only) to allow me chance to process, pack and dispatch your order same day.
For non dispatch days (Saturday, Sunday, & Thursday) there is no order cut-off time, and these will be processed, packed and shipped on the closest following dispatch day.
