About
Creative, stylish, beautifully well made, fun and here to stay! Caroline Guitar Company, out of Columbia, South Carolina USA have been putting out quality pedals for many years now and have certainly established themselves as one of the great 'boutique' pedal brands. I'm incredibly proud to add their work to my roster, and do my bit to represent them here in the UK.
The Kilobyte lo-fi delay, a wonderfully warm, fun, vintage sounding delay with some fun features packed within it's neat enclosure.
What Caroline Guitar Co say...
"We’re making a different kind of delay here, folks! If you’re reading this, you must be getting ready to party like it’s 1983. We’ve kept your original signal path analog and pure, then given you a 21db overdrive preamp to smash a lo-fi digital delay chip designed for karaoke machines and children’s toys into rich, warm, smeared and repeated glory. Yeah, we’re going back in time – back to when they measured data in KILOBYTES! Each of the controls has a lot of range, and YES, this thing can get plenty loud and powerful. We give you that power in hopes that you’ll use it wisely. "
How to control it
Level - is the overall volume of the repeats relative to your original signal
Sum - is the number of repeats; set this high and this pedal can run away and self oscillate.
Attack - adjusts the gain in the repeater preamp, allowing you to boost or overdrive the echoes
Clock - sets the amount of delay time
Modulation - controls a gentle amount of pitch shifting in the repeats. It was designed for Caroline Guitar Co by Jack DeVille at Mr. Black Pedals.
HAVOC footswitch - Holding down the HAVOC footswitch will allow the pedal to run away in a focused, less ‘woofy’ manner than simply turning up SUM. Releasing it will return to the level set by the SUM control
Specs/Power
IMPORTANT: if you use a power supply, use only a 9V DC center negative tip power supply, BOSS PSA or equivalent industry standard units. Unplug cable from input when not in use to save battery life. Caroline Guitar Company warranty only covers component failures or manufacturing defects - it does not cover misuse or abuse of the product, modifications or unofficial repair work.
