About the T-Bar Tele pickup set
The T-Bar is one of those pickups that stops you in your tracks. It is a direct replacement Tele neck and bridge pickup size, but packs a P90 punch. Yup. They feature recessed adjustable poles and blend some of the tonal characteristics of a traditional soapbar P90 into a direct replacement for a tele. The tone is fatter and will more readily push the front end of your rig with higher output. For those who love to rock out on a tele, these add some fun flavours!
When you hear them, you have question it as it is so hard to imagine it is possible to get so close to that of a hearty P90 loaded guitar in a Tele. But these definitely do.
Stick with tele style 250k pots and you'll expect warmer, vintage esq P90 tones but pair them with 500k pots and you'll get a more Tele like, punchy tone. Generally speaking, pairing with 500k is our recommendation to get the most from the design.
This specific neck pickup has a 'open' nickel cover, bridge is the standard bare tele bridge pickup style
Nerdy specs
Type - Passive
Wire type - 2 wire
DCR neck - 8.5k
DCR bridge - 10.97k
Magnet direction - South to strings (Neck), North to strings (bridge)
Coil direction - Counter-Clockwise (neck), Clockwise (bridge)
Will it fit my guitar?
The T-Bar pickup is traditional Tele single coil sizing but does have a slightly taller coil, as such, will fit most standard/traditional Tele model without modification but there could be a variant with a particularly shallow neck pickup cavity that will require routing.
The bridge pickup is standard size and mount, but it does not have a copper baseplate, so if you rely on your bridge pickups signal ground wire to also ground your bridge currently, you will need a separate bridge plate ground wire when using the T-Bar.
What's included?
Inside the box you'll find the pickup you have ordered, along with your mounting screws and height rubbers.
Installation
They are traditional 2 wire as standard (Gavitt 22awg cloth style wire where black is ground, off-white is 'hot'). If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.
