About

I’m a big fan of CTS pots, I personally use the 450 series pots every working day on builds, pre-wired kits and in-house repairs, they're my go to pot brand/range.

This premium '450' series pot features a +/-10% tolerance in regards to it's resistance. It features a longer life-span brass shaft and bushing with a graphite wiper.  Each pot comes complete with 2x 32UNEF-2A mount nut, 1x flat dress washer 1x star tooth grip washer.

This specific pot features the standard short (CTS brass bushing '3' spec) mounting thread length, and is split shaft trim. You'll perhaps most commonly find and use these on Les Pauls, SGs or ES-335 guitars for example, or with other humbucker equipped guitar models. The split shaft basically means these will suit control knobs that secure in place via a push-to-fit design, more specifically suit control knobs with a 0.236" / 5.99mm diameter and 24 teeth/splines.

These pots are CTS's own push/pull models allowing for various additional wiring possibilities such as coil-tapping or phase switching thanks to a 2 position DPDT switch in-built in the housing. These feature a neat PCB for soldering your pickup etc wires which is seldom seen on other manufacturer's push/pull pots, although this is very easy to wire up I would recommend having some experience of sodlering a PCB especially when using lead free solder as that takes a little more heat to work with and the connections are fairly small. Other than that, a high quality pot in line with their other 450 in construction.

Interested in learning a little more about them or how to wire one for coil splitting? I have written an article which can be read HERE!

500kΩ is commonly used for Humbucker or P90 equipped guitars
250kΩ is commonly used for single coil equipped guitars.

Hate soldering your ground wires to the pot casing? Check out the Ground Bug!

Looking forward to installing your new pot, but a little worried about making the ground connections to the pot casings? First time soldering and hear the horror stories of frying pots, or just simply want to neaten up your installs? Then the awesome 'Ground Bug' will help with any of these concerns, beginner or pro modders alike. The Ground Bug is a pot washer that fits between the pot casing and the pickguard/body and has a number of lugs (much like with the main signal connections on the pot for example) to which you can very easily solder your ground wire connections too. Completely removing the worry and risk of soldering a pot casing, something I know many guitarists complain about having to learn to do.
I have been stocking Ground Bugs for a while, and they really are the perfect match when replacing a pot as they further help you with your installs.  Click HERE to view the Ground Bug product range.
