Stringjoy - Signatures - Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings - Balanced Super Light 9-42
I'm excited to announce the return of Stringjoy strings to the Home of Tone! I first stocked stringjoy back in 2017, then simply due to a transitional change in distribution and other commitments wasn't able to re-stock. But I'm very pleased to see these back on my shelves thanks to their new UK distributor whom has always been supportive of the Home of Tone which is great!
Stringjoy are a Nashville based string company and manufacturer established in 2014. They've since gained a huge following for both their quality of product and useful media content too. Many well established players and guitar makers have taken to Stringjoy as their brand of choice which has certainly also helped their following.
The Signatures are their classic nickel wound string, many feature some slight variations on the more common string gauge choices. Refinements made from testing, developing and in speaking with players too via their custom order processes. They often refer to these gauges as 'balanced' sets, but I'll list each below so you can see which is right for you.
I stock the Signatures in a variety of gauges, here we have the 'Balanced Super Light' 9-42 set.
Here's what Stringjoy say about the set! -
"So these might look like a typical set of 9s (or Super Lights, or Extra Lights—everyone seems to call ‘em something different…), but trust me, they’re not.
The standard for 9s is typically 9-11-16-24-32-42, and while the gauges on the bottom end are solid, the top is all kinds of messed up. Why some other companies make them that way, I honestly couldn’t tell you—but never fear! We’ve fixed all that for you.
See, the issue on most sets is that the .011 has far too little tension to balance with the .009 and the .016 has far too much tension. So, with our Balanced 9s we fix all that by using a .012 and a .015 instead.
The result is a set of strings that plays evenly across the entire fretboard and intonates better when set up properly. If you’re typically a 9s player, these are definitely the way to go."
