The Invader has cemented itself as an iconic high-output humbucker design. Thanks to it's fearsome tone, unique look and also it's associated players who have used the pickup over the years. It is perhaps most commonly associated with the Tom Delonge signature Stratocaster model, as well as the Synyster Gates signature guitars too. It is very well versed in heavy guitar tones, distortion based high gain and will help deliver those sounds with ease. Played clean, you'll notice it just sitting on that edge of break up, as it pushes the front of the amp too. I personally own an Invader, thanks to my younger years loving the Blink 182 pop-punk era and it always brings the smiles. Here at the Home of Tone you'll find the most popular bridge position version, in 6 string spec across the selection of colours. But, if you require the neck position, or other string spec versions please do just reach out! As a SD Main Dealer I can certainly help source and supply any model from the SD range.
Looking at ordering this for a TD Strat project? Then check out my popular and long offered, true to spec pre-wired volume pot kits too. I am also happy to pre-solder the Invader to these TD volume pot kits too as a drop-in solution.
What SD say:
"Installing an Invader changes your guitar’s DNA. No matter how dangerous your stock pickup claims to sound, the Invader will transform your guitar into the mean, heavy-sounding beast you always knew it could be. The Invader’s power comes from the combination of specially overwound coils, three large ceramic magnets, and its striking, oversized metal oxide pole pieces. These unique pole pieces expand the overall magnetic field and widen the frequency spectrum, which is why every note played through an Invader sounds so rich and massive. The ceramic magnets add depth and clarity while the large hex caps deliver smooth string-to-string balance.
The Invader delivers the thickest, deepest low-end response of any passive pickup we make. Chords sound almost subsonic with lower tunings, but balance nicely with the crunchy treble, keeping everything well defined. While the Invader bridge looks mean and vicious, because it is mean and vicious, the Invader neck humbucker is surprisingly warm and smooth, despite its intimidating looks, and yields a thick crunch and moaning sustain.
Hand built in our Santa Barbara, CA factory, the Invader features three large ceramic bar magnets, oversized metal oxide poles, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance. The Invader is available in 6, 7, and 8-String passive and active mount options."
