About Seymour Duncan

Seymour Duncan have long cemented themselves as the leading aftermarket pickup brand in the world, offering a staggering selection of models, and doing so affordably too. Throughout their range they have created iconic models that stand the test of time, popular for a variety of guitars and music styles.

About the Invader Model

If there are elements of the classic PAF that you like, but just wish it had more oomph, the Duncan Custom is for you. A custom overwound PAF style voiced with rock, metal and heavier blues in mind.
It has also gained an interest from the Pop-Punk world too, due to it being the factory installed pickup on the Fender Tom Delonge Starcaster guitar, as well as of course on Tom's own stage used Starcasters. So if you're looking to capture Tom's recent tones, this pickup will help you get there.
Here at the Home of Tone you'll find the most popular bridge position version, in standard string spacing, 6 string spec. But, if you require the Trembucker spacing, or other colours/cover styles, As a SD Main Dealer I can certainly help source and supply any model from the SD range.

What SD say:
"The Duncan Custom is a medium output humbucker pickup that features a small ceramic magnet and custom-wound coils to dish out a ‘P.A.F.-on-steroids’ tone. It has tight lows, a bump in the upper midrange that gives you more character and crunch, and an airy high end that cuts through heavy distortion but is also great for achieving crystal-clear clean tones. It’s especially suited for warmer-sounding guitars with a prominent midrange. Therefore, many players like to use it in Les Pauls and Paul Reed Smiths. It pairs well with the Jazz or ’59 neck models, and forms one half of our ’59/Custom Hybrid humbucker."

Installation

These pickups are a direct replacement in terms of sizing and spec for a traditional uncovered, short leg humbucker pickup. They are 4 conductor wired as standard which means you could wire it with some alternative switching options comfortably such as coil split, phase reversal or series/parallel, making them very versatile. If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.
