Seymour Duncan Pickups - Antiquity neck & bridge pickup set for Jazzmaster
Please use the tabs below to read through the information about this product.
About Antiquity
Seymour Duncan have long cemented themselves as the leading aftermarket pickup brand in the world, offering a staggering selection of models, and doing so affordably too. The Antiquity range was introduced as part of their Custom Shop, seeing these hand made pickups able to take on quality vintage and vintage mod specs that the market demands. Antiquities feature some subtle aging to the bobbins, pole pieces and fixings making them a great option for relic projects, vintage instruments and so on.
About the Jazzmaster Antiquity
I have been able to install and play through many of these sets over the years, and always impressed with the vintage correct JM tones available from them. These softer sounding, Alnico 2 based , black bobbin pickups really capture that earlier, 1950s era JM tone akin to the great tones showcased by surf bands like the Ventures. A pleasure to now be a Seymour Duncan main dealer and have these offered at the Home of Tone.
What SD say:
"The late 50s Jazzmaster pickups used wide, flat coils that produced a deep, rich tone that Fender hoped would appeal to Jazz players. While it did, it also became the go-to instrument for so many of the instrumental bands of the 60s. And, it turns out, the Jazzmaster is also a monster when turned up and played through a fuzz pedal.
The Antiquity Jazzmaster pickups are outfitted with calibrated alnico 2 poles, and a custom coil wind to soften the treble attack for a sweeter, smokier overall tone. The treble response has snap and sparkle, but is not harsh, while the bass response is nice and tight. The Antiquity Jazzmaster neck pickup is reverse wound, reverse polarity so that, when used together with the bridge, the pickups will be hum-canceling.
The Antiquity Jazzmasters are drop-in replacements for any Fender American Standard sized Jazzmaster pickup and will fit nicely into the existing cover. Hand built in our Custom Shop, the Antiquity vintage Jazzmaster single coil pickups use alnico 2 rod magnets, a custom coil wind with plain enamel mag wire, vintage-correct flatwork, cloth push-back lead wire, and they are all lacquered and wax potted like the originals."
Please note, this pickup set doesn't come supplied with a set of covers, but are standard size so will drop into the guitars existing covers. If you do need some for a new project/build though, I stock a selection of popular JM pickup cover colours HERE by the pair or singular depending on your requirements.
Nerdy specs

Recommended wiring - These pickups are designed to be respectful of the vintage 60s design, therefore generally speaking people will be pairing these with vintage JM wiring specs too. Ultimately, it is down to personal preference but if you want that Jazzmaster vintage chime, then 1MEG lead circuit pots with 0.033uF for the 50s and early 60s JM spec, or 1MEG 0.1uF for '65 JM spec will suit these great. Want to tame more of the top end? Then perhaps consider 500k pots instead. For lots more information on Jazzmaster wiring specs and options, consider checking out my JM pre-wired harnesses too.
What's included?
Inside the box you'll find the neck and bridge pickups, along with a set of relic mounting screws for each, and a wiring guide which covers traditional installs. The Antiquity pickups do not come with new covers, nor do they come with the height adjustment foams. But I do carry stock of a selection of Jazzmaster pickup covers HERE, as well as the height adjustment foams HERE. So if you're installing these pickups into a fresh project/build, I hope these additionally stocked items help out! If you're installing these pickups into an existing guitar, then simply re-use the original foam and covers.
