About Antiquity

Seymour Duncan have long cemented themselves as the leading aftermarket pickup brand in the world, offering a staggering selection of models, and doing so affordably too. The Antiquity range was introduced as part of their Custom Shop, seeing these hand made pickups able to take on quality vintage and vintage mod specs that the market demands. Antiquities feature some subtle aging to the bobbins, pole pieces and fixings making them a great option for relic projects, vintage instruments and so on.

About the Antiquity II Mustang Myth

Thanks in part to the artists over the decades who have adorned a Mustang for their sound and look, it is a guitar in the Fender line-up that although is looked at as somewhat niche by some, is also incredibly recognisable to the broader music world. The Mustang is a very unique guitar design, from it's bridge, scale length, body shape, wiring and it's pickups! All of it's key features are pretty unique to the model, and that's what makes them so great and packed with personality. The Antiquity II 'Mustang Myth' set were designed by Seymour Duncan to capture the 60s Mustang sound. Also featuring unique details specific to this era of Mustang pickup. The Seymour Duncan Antiquity team have done a fantastic job with these, look no further if you're after a true to vintage spec and sound for your Mustang.

What SD say:
"Seymour still remembers having his band mates drive him to 8th Street Music in Philadelphia back in the 60s to buy his first Fender Mustang after seeing one played on TV. There’s nothing like the sound of a Mustang with its short scale length, unique vibrato, and customized pickups. The Antiquity II Myth Mustang single coil pickups deliver a tone that is springy and almost bouncy like a Strat, but with a honkier midrange quality, and just the right amount of harmonic sparkle. The specially calibrated Alnico 5 rod magnets will add a nice, natural sustain to your instrument, and we use the same diameter and height pole pieces as the originals. Hand built in our Custom Shop, the Antiquity II vintage Mustang single coil pickups uses calibrated Alnico 5 rod magnets, vintage-correct light gray bottom flatwork, a custom coil wind with heavy formvar wire, cloth push-back lead wire, and each pickup is lacquered and wax potted."

Please note, this pickup set doesn't come supplied with a set of covers, but are standard size so will drop into the guitars existing covers. If you do need some for a new project/build though, I do stock some traditional plain (no hole) covers in black and white. Just drop me message if you'd need a pair.

Nerdy specs

Magnet - Alnico 5
Type - Passive
Wire type - 22awg cloth push-back 2 conductor (hot and ground)
DCR neck - 6.60k
DCR bridge - 6.50k
Bobbin - Grey fibreboard
Polarity - RWRP neck for hum-cancelling middle position
Dimensions - Click here for sizing spec sheet
Recommended wiring - These pickups are designed to be respectful of the vintage 60s design, therefore generally speaking people will be pairing these with vintage Mustang wiring specs too. Ultimately, it is down to personal preference but if you want that Mustang sound, then 250k pots and a 0.05 mfd cap will suit great.

What's included?

Inside the box you'll find the neck and bridge pickups, along with a set of relic mounting screws and height adjustment tubings for each, and a wiring guide which covers traditional installs. The Antiquity pickups do not come with new covers. If you're installing these pickups into an existing guitar, then simply re-use the original covers.
