About the Cunife® Wide Range Jazzmaster® Pickup set

I have been able to install and play a number of these CuNiFe WRH Fender pickups and really like them. Some great mid range push, and classic vintage WRH character to them. Take gain and fuzz really well too! I have also supplied countless pre-wired Tele Custom and Deluxe harnesses for customers who are fitting CuNiFe WRH pickups, proving how popular they have been since their release, and for good reason. A real pleasure to now be carrying stock here at the Home of Tone of these wicked pickups!

This listing is specifically for a neck position CuNiFe WRH only. If you would prefer a set, I have those on back order but will hopefully see some stock from Fender for those soon.

What Fender say;
"The first authentic CuNiFe®-magnet-powered Wide Range pickup in more than 40 years delivers rich bell-like humbucking tone with full bass and clear treble. CuNiFe pickups have "hi-fi" clarity yet never lose their attack and definition no matter how hard they are pushed. A chrome cover with a "3 3" exposed pole piece design and Fender logo completes the vintage-'70s vibe.

As popular music roared with the fatter tones of humbuckers at the dawn of the 1970s, Fender hired acclaimed pickup designer Seth Lover to create a distinctly Fender-flavored take on a higher-output dual-coil pickup. The resulting Wide Range pickup used large bobbins and threaded CuNiFe-rod magnets to achieve its distinctively brilliant sound, as heard on that era's Telecaster® Custom, Thinline and Deluxe guitars. Sought after by musicians of all genres for decades, the original-era real CuNiFe-magnet pickups disappeared when the Telecaster Custom was discontinued in 1979."

Nerdy specs

Magnet - CuNiFe
Type - Passive
Magnet wire - Polysol-coated
Wire type - Single conductor coax
Pole pieces- adjustable
DCR neck - 9.98 - 10.59K
Wax potted

Recommended wiring - Fender recommend for the CuNiFe WRH to be paired with 1MEG pots and a 0.022uF tone cap. Ultimately, it is down to personal preference but I have personally installed these pickups to match this spec and it works really, really well so would be my personal recommendation also.

Installation

Please note, WRH are a pretty unique, large size, they are not traditional humbucker size and mount. If you plan on retrofitting this to a guitar that does not have WRH already, please keep in mind it will likely require modification to fit.
If you are fitting them to a traditional spec Tele Custom or Deluxe, then these pickups are a direct replacement in terms of sizing and spec for a traditional WRH. They are 2 conductor wire (one hot, one ground) making for a very simple install process. If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.
