About

This listing is for a premium, '450' series, custom spec CTS pot.
They are a production 500k 20% tolerance spec pot but I have tested the batch and listed them in much more specific value ranges for you.

These might be particularly useful if you’re chasing a specific sound/response. If you’ve tried a 500k pot and it’s too bright, but 250k too muddy, then perhaps a pot closer to 400k and more of a middle ground might help for example.

I have measured the batch and listed them in value ranges. So you could choose a pair or set of 4 for example within a super tight tolerance for consistent results.

Their construction is also a long life-span brass shaft and bushing with a graphite wiper.  Each pot comes complete with a nut, washer and star tooth washer. They are are based on the CTS 'B' audio 15% taper.

This specific pot is a short, split shaft design. The split shaft basically means these will suit control knobs that secure in place via a push-to-fit design, more specifically suit control knobs with a 0.235" / 5.95mm diameter and 24 splines.

Long or short, which do I need?

The question I probably get asked most is, "I have a Les Paul, will I need long or short shaft pots?". Well Gibson are of course known for lots of transitional changes to specs from the golden era right up to modern day. Here's a general list of which models take either type. But, if you're still not sure, the simplest answer is that ALL types of Gibson or Epiphone Les Paul will fit a long shaft pot, as you can adjust the two supplied nuts to suit the height in the body. All Epiphone Les Paul's with exception of the Elitist model use short shaft pots.
