About the Slash Alnico II Pro APH-2s
I think it probably goes without saying, but Slash is an artist so well associated with Seymour Duncan. Having used SD pickups for a huge portion of his career as well as various signature sets too, but the most iconic set is this, the APH-2. The set he has installed in the majority of his Les Pauls, the classic Appetite for Destruction tone! It's understandble of course that these pickups will initially appeal to fans of Slash, but I think as an overall HB design there is good reason to consider these whether you have loved Slash's career or never listened to a note he's played.
This particular set is for the zebra / Rev zebra, open cover style for that classic Slash look! If you would like to order other cover styles, check out my other listings or get in touch!

"When Slash was given the honor of having a Gibson Les Paul Signature model built, we sent over the same Alnico 2 Pro humbuckers that he has used for decades. Turns out, the new guitars sounded noticeably different than the original. So, we accepted the challenge to make him a new pickup that would make all of his new signature guitars sound just like the original AFD Les Paul. The result is the Slash Signature Model humbucker.
We used a different mag wire and winding spec that, when combined with the alnico 2 bar magnet, provided exactly what was needed to push a stock Les Paul toward that familiar sustain, crunch, and midrange that was so characteristic of the tone of Slash’s original Derrig Les Paul copy. The Slash humbuckers are hand built in Santa Barbara the same way we built his originals in the 80s, with a nickel silver bottom plate with long mounting legs, single conductor braided lead wire, maple spacer, paper tape, and wax potting. We also offer them with some of our most popular modern options: Short mounting legs, 4-Conductor cable and Trembucker spacing.
P.S. In case you were wondering, yes, the set that you buy is exactly the same as what Slash’s mighty tech, Ace Bergman, installs in Slash’s guitars. When the boss needs some new APH-2s, we pull them right out of production stock."

Recommended wiring - The Slash APH-2s model humbucker is generally seen paired with 500k pots, and 0.047uF (per SD's recommendation) or 0.022uF tone capacitor values depending on personal preference or application. From a personal standpoint, I do feel the 0.022uF is the better suited spec for Les Pauls for example. Cap specs are personal choice though and if fitting into an existing LP, I suspect you'll find it already has 0.022uF in there ready to go.

Inside the box you'll find the neck and bridge pickups, along with your mounting screws and springs for each, and a wiring guide which covers traditional installs.

Installation
These pickups are a direct replacement in terms of sizing and spec for a traditional uncovered, long leg humbucker pickup. They are 1 conductobraided shield wired as standard, akin to traditional/vintage humbuckers. To install you solder the outer braiding to ground (pot casing for example) and the central black cloth covered core is the 'hot' signal wire. If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.

Local pickup - If you are local and wish to collect any items or order in advance for collection on a specific day, then you can still place an order online and select local pickup at the checkout. Or drop me a message and I'll reserve the items ready for your visit.
For online ordering and dispatch - In stock, non made to order items are processed and dispatched 4 days a week; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.
For orders that are placed on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday I have an order cut off time of 14:00GMT (with Royal Mail shipping services only) to allow me chance to process, pack and dispatch your order same day.
For non dispatch days (Saturday, Sunday, & Thursday) there is no order cut-off time, and these will be processed, packed and shipped on the closest following dispatch day.
