About the McNelly P90 Soapbar
They use a hybrid magnet arrangement, which has a few advantages. Each pickup is made to sound awesome in it's given location. You can set up your rig to be screaming on the bridge, then switch the neck without getting lost in mud. Another big bonus is that you'll find the outputs are well balanced without having to jack up the bridge pickup and bury the neck. They have all the goobey goodness that P90's are about, but bring it with a hint of refinement.
Nerdy specs
Type - Passive
Wire type - 2 wire (braided)
DCR neck - 7.15kOhm
DCR bridge - 8.8kOhm
Magnet type - Alnico 5 neck, Alnico 4 bridge
Recommended wiring - The Soapbar P90 will suit 500k pots and a 0.022uF tone cap well. Ultimately it comes down to personal preference, or what tonal response you hope to achieve from the pickup, but these specs are my recommended go-to specs for a P90 Soapbar
Will it fit my guitar?
The McNelly P90 Soapbar pickup is standard/traditional Soapbar pickup size and mount. It secures to the body via two self tapping wood screws that go through the centre of the pickup cover, through the pickup and into the guitar's pickup cavity. Height is then adjusted via those two mount screws, with the help of a pair of springs underneath. Or alternative you can use sponge/foam strips, which some P90 equipped guitars come with.
Cover Options
The P90 soapbar is available to order with either cream, black or raw nickel covers.
What's included?
Inside the box you'll find the pickup you have ordered, along with your mounting screws and height springs.
Installation
This model P90 is traditional/standard Soapbar size and mount. They are supplied with traditional braided hook-up wire as standard (Gavitt 22awg cloth style wire where outer braiding is ground, central black cloth covered wire is 'hot'). If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.
