About Seymour Duncan

Seymour Duncan have long cemented themselves as the leading aftermarket pickup brand in the world, offering a staggering selection of models, and doing so affordably too. Throughout their range they have created iconic models that stand the test of time, popular for a variety of guitars and music styles.

About the Slash 2.0

I think it probably goes without saying, but Slash is an artist so well associated with Seymour Duncan. Having used SD pickups for a huge portion of his career as well as various signature sets too. Like the 2.0 featured here! I personally installed a neck and bridge set of these for a customer recently and was super impressed, I think the extra little push over the standard Alnico II signature set works really well. It's understandble of course that these pickups will initially appeal to fans of Slash, but I think as an overall HB design there is good reason to consider these whether you have loved Slash's career or never listened to a note he's played. They're a unique A2 based humbucker, which generally are seen with lower outputs, that can capture some early PAF vibes but with more push into the front end of your amp. Cool set for sure!

This particular set is for the double black, open cover style. If you would like to order other cover styles, check out my other listings or get in touch!

What SD say:
"Slash’s signature humbucker set has been loved by fans and the 6-string king himself for over a decade. Since then, Slash has found a need for a hotter version of his pickups in live applications over the course of multiple world tours with Guns N’ Roses and Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. When working on this new wind with Seymour Duncan, Slash’s goal for the team was to deliver the “same tonality, same great clarity…but hotter” than his APH-2s. The Slash 2.0 Set is based off his signature APH-2 pickups, now with a hotter wind that provides the familiar sound Slash loves while pushing his amps with the perfect balance of volume, drive, and compression.

The Slash 2.0 humbuckers are hand built in Santa Barbara the same way we built his originals in the 80s, with a nickel silver bottom plate with long mounting legs, single conductor braided lead wire, maple spacer, paper tape, and wax potting."

Nerdy specs

Magnet - Alinico 2
Type - Passive
Wire type - 2 conductor braided (outer braiding ground, central core hot)
DCR neck - 8.8k
DCR bridge - 9.38k
Long leg mounting
Dimensions - Click here for sizing spec sheet
Recommended wiring - The Slash 2.0 model humbucker is generally seen paired with 500k pots, and 0.047uF (per SD's recommendation) or 0.022uF tone capacitor values depending on personal preference or application. From a personal standpoint, I do feel the 0.022uF is the better suited spec for Les Pauls for example. Cap specs are personal choice though and if fitting into an existing LP, I suspect you'll find it already has 0.022uF in there ready to go.

What's included?

Inside the box you'll find the neck and bridge pickups, along with your mounting screws and springs for each, and a wiring guide which covers traditional installs.

Installation

These pickups are a direct replacement in terms of sizing and spec for a traditional uncovered, long leg humbucker pickup. They are 2 conductor wired as standard, akin to traditional/vintage humbuckers. To install you solder the outer braiding to ground (pot casing for example) and the central black cloth covered core is the 'hot' signal wire. If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.

Do you have them in stock?
