About Antiquity
Seymour Duncan have long cemented themselves as the leading aftermarket pickup brand in the world, offering a staggering selection of models, and doing so affordably too. The Antiquity range was introduced as part of their Custom Shop, seeing these hand made pickups able to take on quality vintage and vintage mod specs that the market demands. Antiquities feature some subtle aging to the bobbins, pole pieces and fixings making them a great option for relic projects, vintage instruments and so on.
About the P90 DogEar
I haven't carried stock of DogEar P90s before this, and I'm so pleased to have such a quality offering now. I am a P90 fan, having owned many over the years. From original '49 Gibson P90s, to more modern interpretations from McNelly pickups too. This offering by Seymour Duncan is a true to vintage offering, with heavy influence from the golden era. This in particular being an amazing option for your Les Paul junior models.
What SD say:
"Our Antiquity P90 Dog Ear pickups use two specially calibrated alnico 2 bar magnets, and custom neck and bridge coil winds to deliver the sweet, vintage correct growl of late 50s ES-330 P90 pickups. In the neck position, chords are full and round sounding, and single notes have a sweet, bouncy quality. In the bridge, chords have a gritty, honky midrange, and single notes are nice and articulate without sounding harsh. The neck pickup is also wound RW/RP to be hum-cancelling when paired with the bridge position model. If you remove our hand aged dog ear cover, you’ll find the same hand fabricated bobbin, plain enamel mag wire, and flatback tape that was made in Kalamazoo during the early days. These pickups are drop-in replacements for any standard Gibson P90 Dog Ear sized route, and come with aged black covers."
This pickup comes supplied with a lightly relic'd pickup cover and a pair of relic mounting screws.
Nerdy specs
Magnet - Alnico 2
Type - Passive
Wire type - 22awg 2 conductor braided wire
DCR bridge - 8.60k
Polarity - South Up magnet direction
Dimensions - Click here for sizing spec sheet
Recommended wiring - These pickups are designed to be respectful of the vintage 50s/60s design, therefore generally speaking people will be pairing these with vintage wiring specs too. Ultimately, it is down to personal preference but if you want that vintage thing, a 500k volume and either a 250k or 500k tone pot depending on preference. A 0.022uF would be the common cap spec.
What's included?
Inside the box you'll find the bridge pickup, along with a pair of relic mounting screws for each, a relic black pickup cover and a wiring guide which covers traditional installs.

Installation
These pickups are a direct replacement in terms of sizing and spec for a traditional bridge P90 DogEar single coil pickup. They are 2 conductor wired (braided with outer braid for ground and central core for hot) making for a very simple install process. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.
