About
So, what is a no load pot? Predominantly used in the tone position, The no-load tone pot works like a standard tone knob from positions 1-9, but at 10, it is 'removed' from the circuit so that you get the full, un-touched sonic output of your pickup. It means more output and more treble without using a booster pedal or active controls. So if you like the sound of your pickup un-influenced by a pot value, and straight through to the jack, this is a great way to help achieve that sound whilst still having the versatility of being able to turn the pot slightly and have some adjust-ability again. But these can have a variety of uses too, one of which being the pot I use in the ‘Blender’ strat harness, so if you’re looking to do that wiring style yourself the 250k version is the very same pot I use if that helps! Please note that there is a cast molded locator tab, which you may or may not need depending on the guitar it is being installed in. If you don't need it, and you're finding that the tab is preventing the pot from sitting flush against the body/control plate, then you can simple snip this tab off with some quality cutters easily. I do this when using these pot types on any repairs or harness builds so thought it might be helpful info to share!
