About
Regular Home of Tone website visitors may recognise this one. I offered it for sale in the spring of 2024 on the behalf of a local customer, but after some advertising of it, it was decided that he'd prefer to keep it. But as time moves on, the desire to reduce the collection continues so it has been dropped back off to me and I'm popping it back up for sale again.
It really has to be said, if you're after a quality, properly made USA Strat, you would be really hard pushed to find a better one than this. I'm a big fan of the guitars Fender USA were putting out in the 90s into the early 00s. It was an era where USA production was put back into full swing after a period where production was moved overseas. I'm yet to play, own or work on a USA Fender from this period that wasn't a great guitar, and this one is a really nice example of the work Fender were doing 30 years ago. All the classic specs from a USA Fender of the period, 2-point modern vibrato bridge with the block saddles, TBX tone pot, modern 2 pin hex button tuners and 2 string trees to name a few. It has loads (possibly all I think) of the original case candy, along with the original shaped case too. This guitar has a very traditional/60s vintage looking 3 colour Sunburst, and a nice quality consistent rosewood fingerboard. This is an Anniversary year model, as such it features a 40th Anniversary emblem on the headstock, and a unique neck plate marking it's model too. So perhaps more desirable and collectable than a regular standard of the era.
Pickups have been replaced/upgraded by it's original owner, who I'll mention in a moment, with a great sounding quality set of Suhr V60's. These pickups, although no the originals, are a great sounding, traditional Strat set and suit the guitar very well.
The guitar was originally purchased and owned by composer, Steve Wright. Who wrote and performed many TV themes among other acomplishments, but perhaps most well known for writing and performing the original Hollyoaks theme song, of which this guitar was performed on for the recordings. A fun little bit of history with the guitar.
Overall condition is very good indeed, especially considering it is a 30+ year old guitar. A very well cared for guitar that I would place it as a 9/10. It has been well cared for both by it's original owner, Steve Wright, and the current owner whom I'm listing it for sale on behalf of. Very, very minor blemish in one or two places, at most, the finish really is in superb condition for it's age. Chrome is still nice and bridge with no pitting. The plastic hardware has retained a nice white colour and not discoloured, which is very rare I must say, usually would expect to see these with yellowed or cream aged parts after 30 years of life.
Frets are in very good condition also,no signs of fret wear, many years of life left in those. Clearly been played with a light touch.
Case is also in great condition, all latches work as expected etc, handle in perfect condition.
