The 46/58 pickups allude to the introduction years of P90's and Jazzmaster pickups respectively. Not to be confused with the usual P90's under Jazzmaster covers, these are a true blend of both designs while keeping the vintage Jazzmaster look. McNelly's goal was to bring out the full potential of these uniquely large pickups. The tone has the super chime of Jazzmasters, but with less compression, a much broader range and bigger sound when compared to vintage or reissue JM pickups but retaining all the character they are loved for. More clarity and chime, with more dynamics on tap. If you like Jazzmasters, you'll love these.
Nerdy specs
Type - Passive
Wire type - 2 wire
DCR neck - 6.6k
DCR bridge - 8.3k
Magnet direction - South to strings (Neck), North to strings (bridge)
Coil direction - Clockwise (neck), Counter-Clockwise (Bridge)
Recommended wiring
We recommend pairing the 46/58 with 500k pots and 0.022uF caps. You can still pair them with the more traditional Jazzmaster 1MEG spec, but expect a much brighter tone, and less of the P90 tonal characteristics that the 46/58s usually capture due to their design.
Installation
These pickups are traditional/vintage Jazzmaster single coil sizing. They are wired with hot and ground separate 22awg cloth covered wire as standard. If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too.
Cover Options
McNelly pickups are listed individually, so simply add the neck and/or bridge pickup in the cover option you wish, to the cart. The full range of cover options are visible via the drop down menu.

About McNelly
One of my first wishes about setting up my store was to concentrate on quality. McNelly couldn't fulfill that wish any better. I've worked with McNelly Pickups since 2015, and has been one of the most reliable, consistent, innovative and inspiring suppliers to work with and it's an honour to represent such a quality brand here in the UK.
Made by Tim McNelly and his team in Canada, every single pickup is created with the utmost passion for their craft. From the design process to refining tone detail, unique and timeless aesthetics to the finest build quality you'd hope to see.
Every detail is considered by Tim to ensure their pickups are the finest they possibly could be. From material and part selection, to care and workmanship during the winding and making process. The result is tone that speaks for itself.
