Sparkletron Tasting Notes
They feature 1/4" thick A5 magnets, wood spacers, 42awg wire & braided lead wire. STANDARD HUMBUCKER SIZE!
Tasting notes: Clear and bouncy. The bridge has a full range bite, while the neck is smoother with an airy high end. Hints of cherry and juicy plum.
The bridge pickup has slightly wider string spacing.Imitation simply isn't a word in McNelly's dictionary, so expect something a little more interesting from these. The response I've had back has been fantastic, dive in!
Wax on, or Wax off?
When the Guitar & Bass Magazine kindly reviewed the Sparkletrons back in May 2016, one thing Huw Price noted was how he'd love to hear an Non-Wax Potted set would sound, to add a touch of micro-phony for a classic Filtertron esq vintage tone. Well, we got a set in his hands and they were instantly a hit, describing them as 'A Microphone with strings', as well as the customer who fitted them to his La Cab describing them as 'Dynamic, harmonically rich,full of chime and plenty of power'. As a result of this we have decided to offer this as an option when ordered, the choice is yours!
Sizing
Vintage style Trons have a unique voice, but also a unique size that isn't nearly as common as the ubiquitous PAF style. With HB sized SparkleTrons, your options just opened waaay up! We use the same magnets and wind them just like the vintage size. Your normal humbucker routes and mounting rings deserve Sparkletron love too!
