About

I’m a big fan of CTS pots, I personally use the 450 series pots every working day on builds, pre-wired kits and in-house repairs, they're my go to pot brand/range. This uniquely spec'd pot was comissioned to be manufactured by Tube Amp Doctor.

This premium '450' series pot features a +/-10% tolerance in regards to it's resistance. It features a longer life-span brass bushing and shaft with a graphite wiper. They feature the vintage style 'dished' back/casing, much like what those early Centralab pots seen on golden era guitars looked like. A detail that perhaps those looking for more vintage correct aesthetics on a project might find useful. Each pot comes complete with a 32UNEF-2A mount nut, a flat dress washer and star tooth grip washer.

They are based upon the CTS 'J' 30% taper, which will provide the player with a smoother, more linear-esq roll-off for which can be particularly helpful if you desire more response from the lower range of the dial. As this is a 30% audio taper pot, I would personally recommend this spec in the volume position, moreso than the tone position.

These also have a much looser turning torque compared to the other 450 series CTS pots I stock also. So if you find stiffer to turn pots not to your tastes, and prefer a pot which feels much easier/quicker to turn then these will be great for you.

This specific pot features the extra short (CTS brass bushing '2' spec) mounting thread length, and is solid shaft trim. The solid shaft basically means these will suit control knobs that secure in place via a grub-screw design, more specifically suit control knobs with a 0.250" / 6.35mm diameter internal ID.

Sold individually

Important/helpful note too -
The mounting thread length is fairly shallow on this specific pot spec, this means they do better suit mounting to control plates or pickguards. The mounting thread length is 0.250" / 6.35mm, so please bare this in mind when ordering. As they may not neccesarily comfortably fit through a body top for example, all depends on the tops thickness however. See measurements below for more information.

Hate soldering your ground wires to the pot casing?

Looking forward to installing your new pot, but a little worried about making the ground connections to the pot casings? First time soldering and hear the horror stories of frying pots, or just simply want to neaten up your installs? Then the awesome 'Ground Bug' will help with any of these concerns, beginner or pro modders alike. The Ground Bug is a pot washer that fits between the pot casing and the pickguard/body and has a number of lugs (much like with the main signal connections on the pot for example) to which you can very easily solder your ground wire connections too. Completely removing the worry and risk of soldering a pot casing, something I know many guitarists complain about having to learn to do.
I have been stocking Ground Bugs for a while, and they really are the perfect match when replacing a pot as they further help you with your installs.  Click HERE to view the Ground Bug product range.
