Description

Duckling Tasting Notes
Now this one oozes cool! Remember the days when you had to hack up your guitar and scratch plate, if you were brave enough to attempt putting a Strat pickup in a Tele? McNelly have truly put those days in the past.
This pickup is for the Tele players who have a thing for the wick vibe of a Strat neck pickup (I know I fall into this territory!). The rich deep lows to the clear and glassy chime is all there, but squeezed into a standard Tele size. No cutting. No Hacking. No Routing required.

The Duckling will give even a great Strat a run for it's money.

Cover Option
This is a special collaboration between McNelly Pickups and Prisma Guitars, featuring their recycled skateboard material as an insert within the cover. Please note, due to the nature of the multiple dyed maple layers, a specific colourway can't be guaranteed and the pickup cover will be a mixture of colours.

Nerdy specs

Magnet - Alnico 5
Type - Passive
Wire type - 2 wire
DCR bridge - 6k
Magnet direction - South up
Coil direction - Counter-Clockwise

Recommended wiring - The Duckling pickup is generally seen paired with 250k pots, and a 0.022uF capacitor, but you could also pair it with a 0.047uF if you prefer a slightly warmer tone and steeper roll off.

Will it fit my guitar?

This specific Duckling is traditional Telecaster bridge pickup size and mount. It can be mounted to a pickguard, or direct into the body within the pickup route, depending on your exact guitars requirements.

Installation

This pickup is traditional 2 wire as standard (Gavitt cloth 22awg wire, usually off-white for hot and black for ground). If by chance you aren't comfortable installing these pickups yourself, and are local to the Home of Tone, then I offer professional in-house installation. If you are installing them yourself, then I am of course here for any installation advise too

About McNelly

One of my first wishes about setting up my store was to concentrate on quality. McNelly couldn't fulfill that wish any better. I've worked with McNelly Pickups since 2015, and has been one of the most reliable, consistent, innovative and inspiring suppliers to work with and it's an honour to represent such a quality brand here in the UK.

Made by Tim McNelly and his team in Canada, every single pickup is created with the utmost passion for their craft. From the design process to refining tone detail, unique and timeless aesthetics to the finest build quality you'd hope to see.

Every detail is considered by Tim to ensure their pickups are the finest they possibly could be. From material and part selection, to care and workmanship during the winding and making process. The result is tone that speaks for itself.

What's included with the pickup?

Inside the box you'll find the pickup(s) you have ordered, along with your mounting screws/fixings.

Custom options?

If you love the look of this pickup model, but the standard options don't quite suit your requirements then we can certainly help with that.
As McNelly Pickups are primarily made to order, we can usually cater for custom requirements happily.
Need a humbucker with 4 conductor cable for custom switching? No problem
Need a wide spaced bridge pickup? No problem

If you have a custom, non standard request, please contact me prior to placing your order and we can chat about your requirements and see about making it happen for you - james@homeoftone.co.uk
