Order times

I usually make harnesses to order, due to the variety of spec options that could be chosen across the whole range. The current turnaround time for a toggle switch harness orders is around 2-3 working days depending on quantity of orders in at the time and your order will be updated accordingly when it is dispatched. This turnaround time doesn't include the transit time. Thanks for your patience whilst I get your harness made!

Model description

The toggle switches on a Les Paul take on some serious use and abuse over the years, becoming a little noisy or loose feeling meaning sometimes it's just best to replace them. If you're not too confident with a soldering iron, it can be a frustrating task. I've had these harnesses available as part of my Les Paul pot harness kits for many years, so have made them available separately here for those that solely want to replace the switch section.

They are each handwired by me, using quality and trusted components. A great solution to replacing your LPs 3 way toggle with minimal soldering required.

This particular product being specifically for gold versions of the LP toggle kit.

Product options

Switch type
I have opted to provide you with a choice of Switchcraft switch depending on which your Les Paul requires. This choice is between the traditional 'long frame' toggle, or the more modern 'short frame' toggle.
A traditional long frame toggle will only fit specific variants of Les Paul, as the cavity/body depth needs to accomodate the larger housing switch itself. Some models of Les Paul, for example the Les Paul Special, will not accomodate a long frame switch. The Switchcraft long frame toggle switch internally measures 38.5mm so needs a minimum switch cavity depth of 40mm.

A short frame version of Switchcrafts 3 way toggle I have found from experience fits within the toggle cavity of a LP much better, meaning wires aren't squished in there, and also the threaded part is much longer meaning you won't need an additional recessed nut to fit. You can use the spin on nut provided with the switch. This spec switch comfortably fits all varieties of Les Paul models.

With additional extended knurled nut - long frame option only
The traditional long frame toggle switch only has a very shallow mounting thread depth (just under 5mm, which once you have the mounting nut captured on the thread reduces to closer to 2mm), meaning it will likely only fit through very, very thin guitar tops for example. So I offer the option of including an extended thread mount nut with the pre-wired switch. These extended thread mount nuts are super common on Les Pauls equipped with this spec switch as it's the only way you can realistically mount the switch without recessing the top! With the extended nut fitted and captured on the thread, the mounting depth increases to a max of around 6mm which is a lot better for fitting to the guitar without modification.

I only offer this additional nut alongside the long frame switch as it simply isn't required on the short frame spec switch. The short frame switch has a mounting thread depth of 9mm, and with the standard nut captured on the thread leaves you with a mounting depth of 7mm so plenty for comfortable fit on a variety of models.

Switch Tip
I offer these pre-wired switches with the option of a switch tip if you need one. If you don't simply select 'no tip'.

Harness FAQ's

I've been proudly making, developing and installing my pre-wired guitar harnesses since the beginning of the Home of Tone back in 2015 (time flies when you're having fun right!). Although I feel I do my best in covering as much information as possible across the various product listings, fitting guides, wiring diagrams and more, I thought it might be helpful to put together an FAQ's page that covers some of the general additional questions I get asked. You can view these Harness FAQ's HERE

Do you make custom harnesses?

I'm afraid I do not offer a custom harness service. Only kits developed, tested and listed on my website are the available kits. So no custom schematics etc. If you happen to be local to my office, then I do carry out custom work in house, but in regards to shipped out pre-wired harnesses I do not offer custom kits. I am however happy to use different pot values or cap values within reason if you have a specific requirement that differs to the specs listed above. If this is relevant to yourself then please get in touch to discuss further to ensure the request is possible.
