About

The UwU virtual pet buffer is available for PREORDER now! Units are expected to start shipping in APRIL-May 2024.

At its heart, the UwU is a rock solid opamp-based buffer: it features high input impedance (1MΩ) and low input impedance (25Ω) as well as 18v of headroom, helping with signal loss in longer chains.

...But more fun than that, The UwU introduces gamification to guitar playing. Inspired by the Tamagotchi toys of the 90s, its OLED screen greets the player on the first power up with a small egg as well as level and experience indicators, just like in video games. When an incoming signal is detected, the creature reacts to it in realtime, as is shown by a set of fun on-screen animations. The creature will react differently depending on the signal loudness. As the instrument is played, experience points accumulate and the progress bar slowly fills up.
Playing longer will result in experience multiplication bonuses being applied in real time, adding to the enjoyment of the game. When the maximum amount of experience is reached, a level up screen is shown and transitions into the next evolution of the creature, featuring an entirely new set of professionally produced pixel art animations, for a total of 30 different levels. Progress is saved between power cycles using a coin cell battery, in the spirit of old cartridge-based console games. The UwU is fun and provides an ideal incentive, especially for young players, to practice their instrument.
The UwU features a menu screen, accessible by holding the A and B buttons for 3 seconds.
On this screen, users can:
- set the brightness of the OLED screen
- set the sensitivity to the input signal for different instruments or signal sources
- reset their progress to start over from level 1
- and access the Arcade screen, featuring a number of mini classic arcade games to be played with the A and B buttons, such as Neko Invader, Fishy Blox, Long Cat and more.

Guitar? Video games? Why not both?

*Do not power with anything other than a center-negative 9VDC power supply. This kills the pedal and will void the warranty. You will be charged for repairs.
