Millimetric Instruments - 2019 MGS2 Ex-Demo model

£2,600.00 £2,300.00

The MGS2 was the third Millimetric 6 string guitar design introduced to the range. It is an elegant, symmetrical hip, single cut design, taking inspiration from some of the classic guitar designs of the past but in a more minimalist form. You will find access to the upper frets of the neck is very comfortable and easy due to the deeper single cut and shaped neck heel. This was the first MM model to feature a 25.5” scale length, so even with the modern aesthetic, it’s play-ability feels familiar to guitarists used to classic bolt-on neck guitars from California for example. This design is very clean, respectful of the classics yet innovative.

The neck design, as with all of the models, is inspired by aluminium neck guitar construction and although technically is a bolt-on neck design, feels more like a through neck in it’s play-ability. It also aids the overall resonance due to the strings being anchored on the same piece of wood. The 22 frets are Jescar stainless steel measuring 2.54mm wide and 1.19mm tall, and the fretboard is 12” radius. Neck profile is the standard D to C shape (with signature volute), and this particular build has been shaped to 20mm at the 1st fret & 21mm at the 12th fret.

This build has a walnut body and neck, which has been oxidised to give it a black aeshtetic and finished in natural livos wood oil. A tactile feel and lovely open grain look.

Pickguard, control knobs, switch tip are designed and made in house from acrylic and ABS plastic (with brass insert) respectively. The bridge is also unique to Millimetric, designed and made in house from stainless steel and brass. Tuners are made in the USA by Hipshot products, and are their open gear, locking tuners with modified buttons. Strap buttons are recessed into the body for a cleaner aesthetic, and included with the guitar is a set of Dunlop strap locks to suit. The guitar comes equipped with a dual action truss rod for accurate adjustment and reliability.

Electronics are wired in house, using quality components and will be visible on the guitar via it’s clear acrylic rear cavity cover. This guitar has Millimetric's 'MMLS' pickups which is a single coil, lipstick inspired design. Low output, clear sounding pickups which you can hear in a wide range of demo videos we have made using the exact guitar.

The guitar comes supplied with a Nanuk flightcase.

In the photos here on this listing, I have also included some of the build photos Florian sent to me whilst it was being made. As well as a great selection of other photos taken during it's time here. The guitar has some very, very minor signs of playing wear due to it's time as a demo instrument, and I will be more than happy to show this when viewing or if you would like I can try and send a quick video or some photos to you to see if I can capture it on camera, but overall condition is fantastic and has been well cared for by all who have demo'd it.

Here at the Home of Tone, I have had the pleasure of promoting the Millimetric brand with this incredible MGS2 which has been featured and reviewed by Guitar Magazine, being awarded 9/10, an editor's choice award as well, and to top that off it was in the final running for their 2019 Gear of the Year awards, which is quite the achievement. It has been demo'd by some fantastic players such as John Cordy, included in music made by the talented Aldo, as well as more in-depth demos from Guitar Magazine too, as well as a couple of my own videos of course! Including a spec run-down video which might be useful if you want some nice closeup shots and narrated audio explaining the spec options of the build.
If you would like to be sent the full list of videos made using the guitar, please do send me a message and I'll forward that list to you, but here is a pretty solid selection of some of my favourites featuring the guitar!

Pricing and availability
At the time of being built, this guitar new would have cost £2600 landed in the UK. The Millimetric waiting list is currently closed as it has reached a 3 year wait time, and prices will be increased upon the wait list re-opening.

This guitar is available ex-demo for £2300 (no offers I'm afraid) and is available for viewings here at my office in Stourbridge, West Midlands, UK. It has some very, very minor signs of playing wear due to it's time as a demo instrument, and I will be more than happy to show this when viewing :) Please get in touch to organise a viewing, and you're more than welcome to bring your own amplifier and/or pedalboards if you would like to hear it via your own set-up too, I always feel that's really useful when trying out a new guitar. Due to the Covid-19 situation, all I ask is that you sanitise your hands upon entering the office and wear your mask during the visit, as will I. We can look great in our masks together!

Shipping will be available should you not be local, but it is limited to UK and Europe I'm afraid due to business insurance restrictions. Shipping will be fully insured using UPS courier.
