Millimetric Instruments - MGB6 Baritone custom build information
This product is currently sold out, feel free to contact us for a delivery estimate
The MGB6 takes its outline shape from the MB4 bass model, and is a bold, symmetrical hip deep double cutaway design. It’s available with either a 28” or 30” scale length which is the longest scale baritone we offer in the Millimetric range. String spacing is the same as the more traditional scale guitars, but the overall nut width is wider so you have increased room between strings in the lower part of the neck which is useful for the string gauges often used with baritone scale guitars. You will find access to the upper frets of the neck is very comfortable and easy due to the deeper double cutaway.
The neck design, as with all of our models, is inspired by aluminium neck guitar construction and although technically is a bolt-on neck design, feels more like a through neck in it’s playability. It also aids the overall resonance due to the strings being anchored on the same piece of wood. The 22 frets are Jescar stainless steel measuring 2.54mm wide and 1.19mm tall, and the fretboard is 12” radius. Neck profile is the Millimetric standard D to C shape (with signature volute), and you have the choice of 1st and 12th fret rough depth measurements.
Millimetric offer a variety of body and neck wood choices, which are common Canadian sourced materials such as Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Poplar or Ash along with finishes which are kinder to our environment such as Livos natural oil, water based metallics or solid colour milk paint. There has been a wide variety of customer requested colours and many of these final instruments can be seen on the MM social media accounts if you require some inspiration for the direction of your build.
Pickguard, control knobs, switch tip are designed and made in house from acrylic and ABS plastic (with brass insert) respectively. The bridge is also unique to Millimetric, designed and made in house from stainless steel and brass. Tuners are made in the USA by Hipshot products, and are their open gear, locking tuners with modified buttons. Strap buttons are recessed into the body for a cleaner aesthetic, and included with the guitar is a set of Dunlop strap locks to suit. Each guitar also comes equipped with a dual action truss rod for accurate adjustment and reliability.
Electronics are wired in house, using quality components and will be visible on the guitar via it’s clear acrylic rear cavity cover. We offer a range of our own design pickups too.
The MGB6 comes supplied with a choice of Nanuk 990 fitted flightcase or Mono Vertigo semi hard case.
Pricing and ordering
The order list is currently closed due to the wait list time reaching 3 years. I will of course be keeping in touch with Millimetric as time passes and will update as soon as orders are able to be accepted again. In the mean time, I am more than happy to answer any spec/model questions and also still welcome visits to trial the demo instrument here!
All Millimetric Instruments are made to order, and as the UK representative I can help talk you through the specs available and any finer details before putting you forward to Florian to take your build to the final drawing board.
I am very proud to now be the UK representative to Millimetric Instruments. Between myself and Florian, we have decided the best way to represent his brand here in the UK is for me to be a local contact, as well as offering you a chance to see & play a Millimetric Instrument for yourself. Something not previously possible for us being the other side of the pond. One other advantage of this approach is that it also helps keep the costs down by not having a dealer margin required for carrying stock, helping pricing direct to the customer.
I'm here to help discuss specs & options available on a custom build, and hopefully provide you with a chance to come a try one to get a feel for what makes these beautifully made instruments worth ordering.
Here I will have a UK demonstration instrument, which you are welcome to come and try, and if you fall in love with it, we can discuss a custom build further.
To book an appointment to come and try a Millimetric Instrument for yourself, feel free to get in touch with me at email@example.com and I'll look forward to meeting you.
The price stated here is merely a rough guide for the starting price, for the sake of this product listing and not a final price of any instrument. As all build specs vary, please do get in touch to discuss further and we will obtain a final spec estimate from Millimetric instruments for your dream guitar.
