SX Guitars
For long time followers of the Home of Tone, this particular brand may be somewhat of a surprise to see on my site and roster. But rest assured, SX joins the Home of Tone after a lot of researching, trial time and planning so I'm equally as proud to represent this more budget friendly guitar brand alongside the top of the range handmade instruments you've come to know me for.
I've really wanted to offer a lower budget friendly option for instruments here, but it remains incredibly important to me to offer something that is of great quality, regardless of it's price point. And that is where the SX brand of guitars have proved to be a great choice and one I'm proud to offer here. Whether you're a beginner looking for a solid, reliable and great looking guitar to learn with, or you're perhaps looking for a budget friendly modding platform, these guitars will help provide that! I have personally owned an SX SST62+ for a couple of years now, and have been very impressed by it's playing feel and construction. A good feeling neck, neat fretting, great period correct styling and a very fair construction for it's price point. So it was a no brainer to stock these here.

The SST62+ is SX's take on the classic '62 spec S-Type guitar and the main model I'll be stocking here. It features a Canadian Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard. Basswood body and a great choice of classic colours. Vintage style die-cast chrome tuners, a 2 way adjustable truss rod, 6 saddle tremolo bridge and synthetic bone nut make for a solid, adjustable instrument and specs found on models higher than it's price point.
But why buy from James' Home of Tone?
I have zero intention to just be a 'box shifting' supplier. Guitars of this price point are usually just shipped out upon order, but here at James' Home of Tone, regardless of price point, each and every guitar sold is inspected by me personally. At the end of the day, SX quality control is of a good standard, but it would have travelled by container, stored in a warehouse then shipped to me since that point of final inspection at the factory. So I take each out of the packaging and provide a full inspection, ensuring this guitar will play nicely out of the box for you. I check it's set-up including neck relief, string action, nut height and intonation. If you're not familiar with what those checks are, they are essentially what helps ensure the guitar plays well, and in tune.
For an extra fee, I also offer the option of having the guitar given a Full Home of Tone Set-up, where I will remove the strings, check and polish the frets, condition the fretboard and begin the set-up from scratch to ensure the best possible playability. This may be a great option for you whilst the instrument here prior to dispatch.
