#MGS2Build - Natural oil, fretting and assembly
First of all, apologies for the delay in my MGS2Build updates here on the blog. Guitar Show 2019 prep absorbed all of my energies through the past month but enough with the excuses and let's get on with the Millimetric!

Things moved rather quickly through February as Florian was very much hoping to have the guitar to me in time for the Guitar Show. One of the most wonderful aspects of Florian's builds is the fretting, his unique fret end shaping style is as much an aesthetically pleasing addition as it is pure playable joy. Florian kindly filmed and shared some updates of the fretting process on this build on his Instagram stories, but sadly I don't have any photos other than the main image above.

On the previous update which was mainly based around the oxidation process, it was time to seal with walnut with finish and as with most of Florian's instruments it was done so with the natural oil by Livos. This time though, due to the aesthetic goal, it was chosen to use their black tint variant to really allow the black to 'pop'. It didn't disappoint, adding a stunning sheen to the bare wood and a consistency in colour across the body and neck which was pretty vital to making this all black guitar look 'right'.

Many of the great updates for this build were shared via Florian's Instagram stories, with clips of the bridge getting painted, the brass pickup tubes being cut down and polished. But I was sent this partial assembly photo, teasing at how great this was working out overall. The small brass saddles in the bridge beautifully complimenting the brass tube lipstick pickups in particular I loved.

Then, this photo hit my inbox, and I was in awe of what had been made. A beautiful piece of design, and a wonderfully well thought out colour palette. Maybe Henry Ford was right about black all along.

Here are some of the beautiful photos Florian taken of the instrument finished up. Unfortunately the case lining wasn't finished in time to get the guitar to the UK for the Guitar Show weekend, but fear not. The guitar is heading over any time now, and will be here ready for viewings by appointment asap. Those that have already got in touch will be contacted firstly, but do please get in touch if you'd like to come and see a Millimetric guitar in person for the first time publicly in the UK. This instrument is here for those interested to have first hand experience of what they feel like to play, how they sound and the unbelievable quality of Florian's craft. What a showcase piece it is, and I'm so very excited to start MM off in the UK with this build.

I'll of course update as soon as it is here in the UK and ready for viewings, I'm also booked in for the Bristol Guitar show at the end of April, of which I'll be bringing the MGS2 with me to exhibit. If you're local, be sure to come and say hello!
